Chapter 111 Finding The Peace Quite Enjoyable

Erick blew out a breath and glared at Corynn. “What are you talking about? My face isn’t cramping!”

To tell the truth, Corynn couldn’t appreciate his earnest efforts.

“Then why are you raising your eyebrows and widening your eyes like that?” she asked as she gave Shirley a

piece of food to stop her from speaking up for Erick.

It appeared that it was high tfor them to have a serious talk.

After dinner, Corynn saw Jason out.

Jason paused at the door. “Corynn, you know Elliot's wedding is in three days, right?”

Corynn nodded. “Yeah, | know.”

“I won't say more then. Take care,” Jason said with a faint smile. He believed that Corynn understood what he

was implying.

“Take care on your way home.” Corynn watched Jason's retreating figure. She was hesitant, unsure whether to

offer her blessings.

She decided against it. Once Jason confirmed his relationship with the girl, he would surely introduce them.

As Corynn turned back and closed the door, she was met with Erick and Shirley’s angry stares.

“Didn’t you hear Jason say he met someone interesting?” Erick asked, exasperated.

Corynn shrugged nonchalantly. “That's a good thing. We should be happy for him, shouldn't we?”

“You silly girl! Are you really gonna be happy if swoman takes Jason away?” Shirley said while poking

Corynn’s head with a finger.

“If he finds a girl who can take him away, it means she loves him sincerely. I'll wish them happiness,” Corynn

earnestly said.

Jason had wasted too much ton her already. She didn’t want to see him hurt because of her anymore.

Even though he always claimed not to care, she knew he did. She couldn't let this fruitless affection continue.

Jason meeting someone was a good thing.

Corynn had once considered introducing him to a girl who matched his looks and background. However, it

appeared that he didn’t need her help as he had found someone by himself.

“You don't get it, do you?!” Erick huffed before storming off.

If he were Corynn, he would have accepted Jason's proposal already. He liked Jason to be his son-in-law.

Shirley held Corynn’s hand and asked, “Corynn, won't you reconsider?”

Corynn firmly shook her head. “Mom, I've made up my mind. Jason and | can’t be together.”

At this point, Shirley had nothing more to say and could only let out a deep sigh

“Alright then. | won't meddle in your marriage anymore.”

She had considered introducing another suitor to Corynn. But after meeting Jason, she realized no one else

could measure up.

Corynn smiled softly. “Mom, | don’t care about these things. What | want is to manage our company to become

powerful and reputable.”

Powerful enough that no one would dare oppress her again.

“You're a young woman. | can’t bear to see you have a hard time. If you had a capable man...” Shirley started,

but Corynn interrupted her.

“Mom, I'm just as capable as any man. | can do what they do.”

“Of course. My Corynn is the best,” Shirley said with an affectionate smile.

All she wanted to say to her daughter was that having someone to share the burden would ease her life. But

knowing Corynn’s strong-willed nature, she decided not to push her further.

“You should rest now.” Shirley began heading upstairs. Halfway, she turned back and asked, “Are you sure? Not

even a little chance?”

“Mom, really,” Corynn replied firmly.

With no hope to convince her daughter, Shirley went to her room.

Just then, Corynn pulled out her phone from her pocket and noticed that Elliot hadn't harassed her today.

Normally, Elliot would send her dozens of messages. What was going on?

Without him bombarding her, she found the peace quite enjoyable.
