I couldn't wait to start working. I started coming up with ideas for my design for the competition.
All sorts of designs emerged in my mind, and I started drawing what I visualized. Soon, the draft of a one-of-a- kind evening gown was complete.
The dress was long and black, and its hem was designed like the petals of a flower in bloom. Embedded in the folds of the dress were countless diamonds that shimmered in the light.
The corners of my lips tilted into a satisfied smile as I gazed upon my product.
Tflew, and the competition was just around the corner. After putting on makeup, I put on the evening gown that I painstakingly made.

My lips were rosy red today and, coupled with the dress, madestand out even more. I wanted to astonish every single person in the country today.
The site of the competition was packed with people who were all experts and professionals in the field of fashion. All of them were eyeing for the place of the champion.
When I scanned my surroundings, I saw many familiar faces.
I saw Queenie Wood, an old acquaintance who was materialistic and liked badmouthing others. There was also Lilian Olson, who started her own clothing store. She had several models working under her, and they were quite popular in the fashion circle. Ethan's cousin, Penny Grayson, was also present. She had lived abroad since she was young and received the best education in the fashion field abroad.
She caught everyone's eyes in her flaming red gown and expensive jewelry. She was currently glancing around. When she saw me, she smiled and walked over to me.
"Evelyn, I never thought you'd come," she said. "Were things so bad in Lendora that you had to return?" I knew she was being sarcastic and was hinting at the matter regardingand Ethan. I left Lendora in a hurry, after all. The Graysons probably thought I was running away.
"Yeah. I never thought we'd see each other here," I said with a smile. "Things were good in Lendora, but I felt like coming hto expand my business. I appreciate your concern, though." I continued, "Why did you cback? Why didn't you stay abroad and enjoy life as is? It's an honor for measly beings like us to have you here today." Penny's expression shifted instantly.
She snorted in disdain and said, "Of course, I'm here to showcase my talent. Not everyone likes climbing the ladder by offering themselves up to others like what you did with Ethan."O t Find I inhaled deeply. "I've always proven. my worth in everything I do. We'll see o wins this competition ele decide if either of us is betterthan the other." Despite my words, I secretly told myself that I had to win. By then, Penny would return abroad and tell Ethan about my achievements here in the country. Penny sneered. "Very well! I'd like to see just how good you are!" Without another word, she turned and stormed off, her heels clicking against the floor. I watched her leave in silence, finding her funny.
The competition commenced, and the competitors went up the stage to present their work to the audience and judges.
Queenie's design was much too avant-garde. It was obvious that she tried something new to get the people's attention.

The judges, however, sighed and shook their heads in dissatisfaction at her work. Lilian's work was fairly well made, But it lacked the element of surprise and creativity. It was hard for her to stand out among the other competitors.
When it was Penny's turn, her model walked on the stage in a black m evening dress that had black feathers lining its hem. Praises could be heard from the crowd. Obviously, her design had gained the approval of many.
I saw Penny glancing around. Her gaze stopped on me, and she smirked, confident that she would be the winner.
Finally, the host announced my nand my design.
"Evelyn Wiley and her work entitled 'Black Swan"!" I walked onto the stage with my head held high, my model following right behindin the evening gown I designed.
Silence blanketed the site for a brief moment before the crowd inhaled sharply at my work. The judges couldn't tear their eyes away from my piece of art. "This is extraordinary!" I heard someone say. "Look at the cut and the bold yet intricate details... this piece is a one-in-a-million!"
