Yvette shot Gideon a look full of annoyance.

"Gideon, aren't there orderlies for this kind of thing? Where did your nurse go?" she snapped.

Her mind was still ringing with the deep, powerful voice of Silas. The more she thought about him, the more she

wanted to get close to Silas. If she could steal Gideon away from Calliope, then stealing Silas should be possible,

too. She still had a shot. She knew how to handle men, after all. Sooner or later, Silas would be hers.

"Yvette, are you deaf or just plain stupid?" Gideon barked. “You're my wife! Why shouldn't you helpout with

something so simple? I'm in this mess because of you!"

His anger was practically boiling over.

Yvette knew she couldn't blow things up with Gideon just yet. If she did, the Baker family would kick her out for

sure-and then her chances with Silas would disappear for good.

"Gideon, relax. I'll help you," she said in her sweetest voice. "I'm your wife, of course I'll take care of you."

Gritting her teeth, Yvette helped Gideon to the bathroom. She was disgusted, but she did it anyway.

When they got back, the door swung open and in walked Gabriel Lawson. He glanced at Yvette coldly before

turning his attention to Gideon.

Gideon was surprised to see his uncle. He was still bitter. If Gabriel had helped, things wouldn't have gotten so

bad. Instead, he'd been too scared of Calliope and the others to lift a finger.

"If you're here to apologize, Uncle, forget it. I'm not accepting it," Gideon snapped. "You're my unclez but you

turned your back on us. Momwon't forgive you for this, and neither will I. If you'd helped, it wouldn't have ended

up like this."

The more Gideon thought about it, the angrier he got. In his mind, Gabriel was just as much to blame.

Gabriel rolled his eyes. "I'm not here to apologize. Why on earth would you think that? If anything, you should be

apologizing to me."

He fixed Gideon with a hard stare. "I got dragged into your mess and lost a lot because of it. This is all on you."

"I'm here to warn you," Gabriel continued sharply. "You can't mess with people like Silas and Calliope. No matter

how angry you are, you need to swallow it. Otherwise, we're all screwed."

"And your mother-next tshe wants to pick a fight, she should probably check who she's up against first.

Calliope isn't someone you can afford to offend. You're lucky if you still have food on the table after this. The

Baker Group is out of your reach now, don't forget it."

With that, Gabriel turned on his heel and left, not bothering to say another word.

Yvette watched him go, lost in thought. Gabriel had money, and even he was terrified of Silas and Calliope. That

was saying something.

"Uncle!" Gideon yelled after him, fuming. He smacked the bed's headboard with frustration, but he was too weak

to get up.

Yvette tried to calm him down, only for something he threw to hit her arm. She stared at him in disbelief-he was

nothing like the man she'd married. He had no patience left at all.
